I would check vanos actuator function using a BMW scan tool and mechanical engine timing. Rough idle is either a vacuum leak or an engine misfire. BMW hex faults can have multiple definitions. If the system is not working properly, a fault code will be set. After spending a lot of money I have the following codes now. Check mechanical timing.- Nick at Pelican Parts. I would think no. This will either confirm or deny your suspicions. The pump itself doesn't seem to have any obvious leak or oil around it. Maybe swap the solenoids first to see if the code changes. The first time it did this today it showed dsc failure on the idrive, then second time showed tyre pressure sensor failure. Reinstall and clear fault codes. I would check spark, fuel and compression on all cylinders. Is the check engine light on? Could be an issue with the eccentric shaft sensor, very common. hi i clean all electric plugs the VANO MAF and i bought new air filter just for the car could breath . it doesn't matter if hot, cold, driving for 15 minutes or 3 hours. The second episode happened in the morning when backing out. Thanks for looking at this. If you're setting a performance type code it is because cam timing is not responding correctly to commands. I put them back the way they were initially and the violent shaking goes away and comes back to the initial slight shake at cold start and random idle thump/skip.
